Ticket #090103-000728

Linksys WRT300n v1.1 N with most updated firmware

Symptom:

Squeezebox Controller will not connect to Linksys WRT300N v1.1 N router set for multimode

Workaround:

Configure the router for G only

Problem:

If the customer has N devices, this is not feasible.

I have checked our Router Status Page and searched our bug database for this router, and it is not there

Thanks,

LaRon

Ross: can you work with LaRon on this one

I spoke with him, we've heard of this router before I think someone on the forums mentioned an issue with it. This router is discontinued and has pretty bad reviews on newegg, but they are still available from other e-tailers, we should probably get one to test. Can you help me out James?

LaRon: Does this customer have any other devices with G adapters? Do they work? Most N routers have explicit options to enable separate G and N modes, is G disabled with "multimode"?

G-mode is enabled in mixed-mode transmission, but at a lower signal strength. G only works much better, as long as N devices are not in use. Depending on channel, I have doubled my signal strength on players by switching to g mode. LaRon has detailed info on my particular setup.

This router has known problems, among them issues with mixed mode environments. Michael, have you contacted Linksys support about this? Is the firmware up to date?

Only one version of Firmware available for this router: 1.51.2
Have not contacted Linksys support at this time.
Still having signal strength issues with Duet, Boom and Classic doing fine, with only occasional drops in signal.

Hello All,

I have received information that a workaround for connectivity issues with this router is using WPA-AES, instead of WPA-TKIP.

During your testing, please try this combination to see if it helps.

Thanks,

LaRon

Customer was having a problem connecting his receiver - just staying on yellow.

I had him switch to Wireless G only, and it worked. I did not have him try WPA-AES, but it is now working with WPA-TKIP.

Thanks,

LaRon

It's not officially supported but upgrading to DD-WRT on my 310N fixed my problems with wireless and the wireless Logitech products. You might want to try that out.

Logitech might want to work with Linksys on this one. There is a problem with wireless connectivity with the current Squeezebox Line and the Linksys 802.11N Routers in mixed B/G/N mode.

Mixed mode B/G/N works in DD-WRT for AES and TKIP but not with the stock Linksys firmware.

Felix: your thoughts?
Comment 11 Felix Mueller 2009-11-03 03:34:00 UTC
Comment #7 and #8 suggest there are two work-a-rounds for the issue.

I suggest trying with the latest firmware and if the issue still exists then please reopen this bug.

Thanks
Felix
