Bugzilla – Bug 10549
SC 7.4 for ReadyNAS with Sparc chip: wipecache and rescan not working.
Last modified: 2012-02-27 17:33:00 UTC
SC Version: SqueezeCenter_7.4~24490-sparc-readynas.bin Stepst to Reproduce: 1. Make sure the sparc chip based ReadyNAS has over 1500 songs. 2. Download and install SqueezeCenter_7.4~24490-sparc-readynas.bin on the unit. 3. Run "[player mac address] rescan", then "[player mac address] rescan ?". 4. Notice "[player mac address] rescan ?" returns "0", indicating the rescan process is not running. 5. Do the same thing for "wipecache". 6. Notice "rescan ?" also indicates the wipecache process is not running. Note: The same tests ran on SqueezeCenter_7.4~24458-sparc-readynas.bin and earlier builds passed perfectly. The wipecache tests ran on SqueezeCenter_7.3.1~24372-sparc-readynas.bin failed because it took too long to finish. However, the process actually ran. "rescan" process ran and passed on that build.

This could be a ReadyNAS issue. Through Raidar, one was able to find and browse the content of the unit, but was unable to open a web page to SC or admin page. Power cycling the unit took care of the problem. Both rescan and wipecache runs now. Since installing SC and running rescqan is the only thing being done to this unit, it could be SC's problem also. Leaving the status as NEW and observe auto tests results for the next few days.
Both rescan and wipecache worked this morning. They failed because they took too long to scan 1500 or so songs, but they ran. So power cycling the ReadyNAS is the work around. That is bad.
Steven: can you work with Wallace on this to evaluate the severity?
Michael, do you have any insight on this one?
Have you been able to reproduce this? > but was unable to open a web page to SC or admin page. The bug here is ReadyNAS' CPU. It's too slow. Locking up and everything is normal with that device. Just give it a few hours.
> Both rescan and wipecache worked this morning. Great. As expected. > So power cycling the ReadyNAS is the work around. That is bad. What's the issue? What is bad? Steven - I'm sorry, I have nothing to add. I don't understand what should be wrong here. (except that rescan/wipescan commands don't need a player ID, but this doesn't matter :-))
Bug as written has not been seen for several days now. Marking as works for me. that bad thing was: The way to take care of the problem was to power cycle the ReadyNAS. As stated earlier, this could be an issue caused by ReadyNAS itself. On the other hand, this ReadyNAS is only used for SC update and rescan. Nothing else. If that requires users to periodically power cycle the unit, that is bad.
Closing resolved bugs - if you feel this bug still exists please first re-test with the latest SW/FW version. If you are able to reproduce then feel free to reopen and attach new logs / steps to reproduce.
