Bugzilla – Bug 10486
Squeezebox Receiver keeps deleteting itself from SqueezeNetwork
Last modified: 2012-02-27 17:19:03 UTC
I would like to report that since last Receiver firmware upgrade to v.56 my Duet Receiver keeps disappearing/deleting itself from my SqueezeNetwork account randomly. On my SqueezeNetwork account I have: - 1x Squeezebox 3 - 1x Squeezebox Duet Controller - 1x Squeezebox Receiver Always only the Squeezebox Receiver just disapears from SqueezeNetwork Account (http://www.squeezenetwork.com/player/viewPlayers). After Receiver disappears from SN Controller looses connection to it. Controller Menu shows "Choose Player", and you can still see this Receiver on the list, however after you select it, the Controller is unable to reconnect to it. After you reboot Controller there is only Squeezebox 3 available (there no "Choose Player" menu). The only way I found to solve this issue is to delete remaining Controller from SqueezeNetwork account and try to reconnect again to SN. Afterthat, new PIN is issued and after adding it, both Receiver and Controller reappear in SqueezeNetwrok Players tab. Unfortunately, after some time Receiver again disappear from SqueezeNetwork. This errors started just after upgrading Receiver firmware to version 56.
Another strange thing is that when Receiver is correctly connected and working fine with SqueezeNetwork, if I decide to delete Receiver myself from SqueezeNetwork everything is OK. However when I readd Receiver later to SqueezeNetwork, SN remembers all receiver settings (timezone, name etc.)-that's strange! Normally all data/settings after user delete procedure should be wiped out (I've tried it with controller and Squeezebox3-after readd all have default settings). That might suggest that you have somekind of error in database that collects/process info about Receivers. (Normally receiver when readded after delete procedure should be named Squeezebox if I remember correctly). I've also observed that when Receiver gets deleted itself from SqueezeNetwork, if Receiver is currently playing music (from Rhapsody for example) it will continue to play all scheduled tracks in playlist correctly. However on controller "Now playing" info data gets frozen on the track info when the player was deleted by SqueezeNetwork, also on SN UI you cannot see what receiver is playing (it doesn't exist). I hope that description above will help you find the source of this problem.
Few minutes away, for the third time, not mine player appeared on my SqueezeNetwork Players tab. Last time I've deleted it from my account manually. Now I wanted to check this player info (MAC address) to get it reported. However it disappeared from my account before I wrote down it's MAC address, I only remember that IP address of this device was starting with 71.* Last time it was the same player as now, because I remember it's IP address was also starting with 71. Something really wrong is going on with SqueezeNetwork since last upgrade (22.12.2008). Database problems?
OK, I've managed to find right now that when my receiver was deleted from my account it landed in someones account and it was using this IP address 71.229.151.198 (Comcast Cable Communications, Inc.)
please leave priority, severity and target milestone fields at default for new reports. This will fleg them for review. If you desire a quicker response, please contact support@slimdevices.com as a bug report is given priority based on the type and odds of occurrence for the general user given problems in the code. A specific user case like this is more likely to be solved via support.
IMHO this looks like a duplicate MAC address, please contact support to resolve this issue. Make sure you tell them about this bug, they will reopen the bug if needed.
I don't think that's individual problem - I have the same problem but with controller (Controller MAC Address: 00:04:20:1a:d1:b8 , Receiver MAC Address: 00:04:20:16:ce:59). I think this bug needs to be reopen. My support incident: #090107-000396).
I'm glad that I'm not alone with this issue, my support incident unfortunatelly wasn't resolved (no response) till now: #081230-000201. I'm really tired of adding my receiver again and again, and then after few songs it's disconnected and deleted from SN. I'm really disappointed.
Closing resolved bugs - if you feel this bug still exists please first re-test with the latest SW/FW version. If you are able to reproduce then feel free to reopen and attach new logs / steps to reproduce.
