Description Mark Miksis 2008-12-27 10:32:01 UTC
Add options to control the speed/pause/etc of the NP text scrolling similar to what's available for the SB2/3 on the Player->Display SC settings page.
Comment 1 Richard Titmuss 2009-01-05 02:25:12 UTC
All settings are being reviewed.
Comment 2 Blackketter Dean 2009-01-05 09:03:05 UTC
Matt's working on the settings.
Comment 3 Weldon Matt 2009-01-05 15:22:31 UTC
It sounds like the "real" problem is that the speed/pause doesn't respond at the correct rate by default? So... why not just make it "work" rather than burdening the user with another setting?

It sounds like you guys are trying to eliminate options wherever possible. Fair enough.

As a long time SB2 user, I find it distracting that the scroll and pause rates seem different than the default ones on the SB2. And, the options exist to change these things on the SB2/3 and some folks will also want to change them on Fab4.

Fletch,

I wouldn't say we're trying to "eliminate options wherever possible" per se - rather, we want to get out of the practice of adding new user settings as the go-to solution for bad default settings or clearly non-ideal functionality.

As per your comment that users will want to change these settings manually... fair comment, but I think everyone involved would enjoy better defaults...

You guys have an active and vocal power user contingent. I would urge you to to continue down the path started by the new default SC skin of keeping options, but making the advanced ones less obvious.

I'll admit that my comments regarding defaults are based on my SB2 usage. I have no idea whether the average new user would agree with me or not. I assume you do focus groups and CAT for that kind of thing.
