Description Peter Watkins 2008-12-26 20:14:36 UTC
The RSSNews plugin offers two modes for traditional Squeezebox VFD displays:
 1) under Home > Extras > RSS Feeds, a user can manually cycle through all feeds, using arrow keys to scroll through headlines and read the text of individual items at his own pace
 2) as a screensaver, RSSNews scrolls through all items in all configured feeds and gives the user no ability to manually skip or move around

The manual/Extras mode is far more usable, making it easy to skim marginal headlines and only read the text for interesting stories. At least one other very popular third-paty screensaver, Greg Brown's SuperDateTime, defines functions for various arrow & skip buttons to allow users to manually call up different pieces of information. The RSSNews screensaver would be much more pleasant if it offered such control in addition to its default scrolling behavior.
