Description agwadude 2008-12-26 16:59:15 UTC
I just upgraded to the SqueezeCenter 7.3.1 from SlimServer 6.5.4. I can no longer access Shoutcast Internet Radio. The web interface displays the following error message when I attempt to access Shoutcast:

There was an error loading the remote feed for : (A SqueezeNetwork account is required for this service. Please access SqueezeCenter Settings -> SqueezeNetwork with a web browser to configure.)

I have used Shoutcast for the last three years on four SqueezeBoxes without having to register a SqueezeNetwork account. Therefore, there is clearly no technical reason for requiring a SqueezeNetwork account, and I have no desire to register one. I would like to access Shoutcast, please fix.

as of 7.0, the management of internet radio is fed through SqueezeNetwork. That is why you now need an account. It's free and gives you access to all services that are available in your country.

Sometimes services change, and that doesn't make it a bug

We'll be reviewing ShoutCast support in the upcoming release.

Let's mark this won't fix. Yes, Shoutcast requires an SN account now. This was done in order to support feature requests such as bitrate limiting and sorting of stations, which are saved to your SN account preferences.

Good points, Andy, but two things:

1. We're planning on relaxing some of the requirements for SN accounts (i.e. only needing registration for specific services) to reduce the initial signup pain.

2. Matt's talking to ShoutCast directly now about a more formal relationship.

So, I wonder if we will be able to provide some ShoutCast support without an account. But we'll reopen the bug if that's the case, but in the mean time...

Agwadude: There's no cost associated with getting a SqueezeNetwork account and you get a lot of great features.

This bug has been fixed in the latest release of MySqueezebox.com (formally known as SqueezeNetwork)!

If you are still experiencing this problem, feel free to reopen the bug with your new comments and we'll have another look.
