and instead use the space to make the text longer/larger.

Or, show a much smaller version (to indicate the type of source (radio, mp3, etc...)

IMO, it would be annoying if the amount or size of text changed from one music source to another.  I'd prefer to have an option where I could set: Full artwork, small artwork or no artwork.  Text font size could be different for all 3.

Fair enough.  Noah, I think we'll need to see three layouts, then decide under what circumstances they are shown.

I agree that changing the text size could be a little annoying.  I don't have many albums missing covers, so it may never become an issue.  Instead, gracefully rearrange the screen to give more space to the text, and scroll less.
