Description Alan Young 2008-12-24 01:03:54 UTC
The new-streaming changes in 7.3 changed to use Pipeline for all transcoding. It seems that this may impose some additional overheads compared with using the builtin perl open(). In particular, for Windows, this uses socketwrapper.

Change 24415. Reverted to use of perl open() where possible.
