an enhancement idea I'm going to table for now:

when entering an IP address, have a special key for '192.168.1.', since a great majority of home LANs run on this IP space.

How about 192.168.0. and 10.0.1 all 3 are the most common.

This should be part of a larger discussion about extra characters, character-set toggling etc. for all devices going forward.

I have a feeling the true, correct "fix" for a lot of this will be fairly involved.  We should collect all these cases/bugs after we finish 7.4...

I think we should consider building on what we're developing for time input windows for IP input windows. Textinput widget is really limited for things like IP addresses.
