Bugzilla – Bug 1039
Selecting playlist causes duplicate entries in database
Last modified: 2008-08-18 10:53:01 UTC
Selecting a playlist for the first time causes duplicate song entries to appear in the database with SlimServer 6 Beta for Linux running on a minimal Fedora Core 1 installation. I have a directory of m3u playlist files that were created by XMMS. The music files are all properly tagged FLAC format. After a Wipe Cache operation, the song listing for an album is correct (cutting and pasting appears to have introduced extra spaces that don't appear in the browser (Safari on OS X 10.3.8)): 1. Black Cow from Aja by Steely Dan 2. Aja from Aja by Steely Dan 3. Deacon Blues from Aja by Steely Dan 4. Peg from Aja by Steely Dan 5. Home At Last from Aja by Steely Dan 6. I Got The News from Aja by Steely Dan 7. Josie from Aja by Steely Dan Then, I click on the name of a playlist from Browse Playlists where the m3u file contains (among other entries) the following: #EXTINF:307,Steely Dan - Black Cow /net/calculon/music/flac/steely_dan/aja/black_cow.flac #EXTINF:269,Steely Dan - Josie /net/calculon/music/flac/steely_dan/aja/josie.flac #EXTINF:234,Steely Dan - Peg /net/calculon/music/flac/steely_dan/aja/peg.flac The playlist displays correctly, but the above songs appear like this: 1. Steely Dan - Black Cow from Aja by Steely Dan 7. Steely Dan - Josie from Aja by Steely Dan 4. Steely Dan - Peg from Aja by Steely Dan When I browse the song listing for the album again, there are now duplicates: 1. Black Cow from Aja by Steely Dan 1. Steely Dan - Black Cow from Aja by Steely Dan 2. Aja from Aja by Steely Dan 3. Deacon Blues from Aja by Steely Dan 4. Peg from Aja by Steely Dan 4. Steely Dan - Peg from Aja by Steely Dan 5. Home At Last from Aja by Steely Dan 6. I Got The News from Aja by Steely Dan 7. Josie from Aja by Steely Dan 7. Steely Dan - Josie from Aja by Steely Dan
This issue was apparently caused by my particular configuration. The paths of files in my m3u playlists, created on a network client, were different than the paths to those same files on my server. The Slimserver could see the files by either path, but couldn't determine that it was looking at the same files, thus the duplicate entries. Sorry for the false alarm.
