Description Rich Maggio 2008-12-14 21:00:04 UTC
When bringing up squeezeplay for the first time, the setup wizard asks for the server IP, username, and password. All works well until you quit squeezeplay and start it again. It will not connect to the server again - it will time out.

The only way I could get it operational again was to disable password protection on SC and blow away the contents of %APPDATA%\Squeezeplay. Once this was done, I could connect again and again after closing squeezeplay down.

I noticed that there is another bug related to switching between 2 servers. This scenario involves only one server.

I am running SC 7.3 production release on SuSE 11.0 and SqueezePlay on Windows Vista. The SqueezePlay version says 7.3 r0. The installable binary is dated 12/14/08.

After uninstalling squeezeplay and blowing away %appdata%\squeezeplay, it works even with a password set on the server.

I'm not sure if there is some other data stored elsewhere that may be persisting which prevents me from replicating this problem again.

Strange...

I certainly could not get it to work before I took the step of blowing away the appdata and disabling the password.

I'll load this up on some other machines that have not had Squeezeplay installed to see if the behavior replicates.

I've tried this on 2 Windows XP SP3 machines that I have. On one of them, I had no problem. It is a P4HT with 1GB RAM. The other machine (an older P4 with 1GB RAM) required that I delete %APPDATA%/SqueezeSlave. After doing that, squeezeslave would start back up each time I closed it and opened it again.

When I tested this time, I did not remove the security on my server prior to deleting appdata.

My laptop, where I discovered this problem, is running Vista with 2GB or RAM.

QA Confirmed, SBC 7.3 r3698 and SP Desktop both have problem connecting to SC 7.3.x when user security is enabled.

Richard/Ben who's would this be to fix?

We are now planning to make a 7.3.3 release. Please review your bugs (all marked open against 7.3.3) to see if they can be fixed in the next few weeks, or if they should be retargeted for 7.4 or future.

Thanks!

Since there's now a planned 7.3.3 release, bugs which won't make the cut-off are being moved to the next target out. If you feel that this bug needs to be addressed more (or less) urgently than the 7.4 release, please cc chris@slimdevices.com and leave a comment in the bug to that effect so we can review it.

Thanks.
