Description Adrian Smith 2008-12-07 14:35:59 UTC
Recent transporter firmware has always had more degausing noise than previous versions, but I've also found a case when I get 3 clicks immediately on pushing into a new mode. This is repeatable for me so is worth looking at.

It occurs when pushing into a list of length 1 using the IR remote and is quite audible. Example case is using my plugin "SwitchPlayer" and pushing into the menu under Extras when no players attached to the server are playing - this gives a list of length 1 which is an error message. (plugin available from http://triodeplugins.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/repo.xml if you need to try)

Ignore the knobPos from the above debugs, this is the last response the server has received and is not sent to the player, I think the significant issue is the listLen of 1.

Richard: Dean would like you to take a look at this and advise, maybe Triod could take a stab at fixing this.
Comment 2 Adrian Smith 2008-12-31 05:21:55 UTC
I can't fix as its in the Transporter firmware. Do others hear it?
Comment 3 Chris Owens 2009-10-09 10:56:25 UTC
Ross, is this as easy for you to repro as it is for Adrian? Thanks.
Comment 4 Ross Levine 2009-10-09 11:54:40 UTC
Not easy for me no. Adrian do you see this with other lists of only 1 item? I'm unable to reproduce this with a now playing list of 1 item or extras menu which only has 1 item (digital inputs).

How long after you see the list does the noise occur? With what frequency does the noise occur to how often you try to reproduce? SBS or SN?
Comment 5 Adrian Smith 2009-10-11 13:10:34 UTC
Yes its still reproducable with 7.4.1 SBS - you need to be in a quiet room so you can hear the degausing noise. It seems to occur when you push into a list with one item on it. You hear the degausing noise a second or so after pushing into the mode, then it goes quiet.
Comment 6 Chris Owens 2009-10-12 15:20:25 UTC
Basically, we are talking to the knob in ways the designers never intended in order to control the degaussing as well as we do.

Ross, I wonder if this may vary from unit to unit.
Comment 7 Ross Levine 2009-10-12 18:20:44 UTC
I'm now able to reproduce with some consistency! I have 2 transporters with firmware 80 on my desk, and one of them reproduces this bug. I can only reproduce this while connected to SN not SBS, but with this Transporter connected to mysqueezebox.com I'm seeing this 100%. Triode am I correct with the severity of this bug?

Would this be your bug Felix? Any logging or anything you might need from me?
Comment 8 Adrian Smith 2009-10-13 10:54:19 UTC
Yes agree severity is low - I believe it is a regression though as I did not hear it before. But if no one else is complaining then it can't be viewed as any more serious...
Comment 9 Alan Young 2010-05-07 11:11:34 UTC
All new Squeezebox products are likely to be based on the SqueezePlay platform.
We do not plan to implement any further enhancements to the ip3k firmware or
which are targeted specifically at ip3k-based products.
