Description Mike Cappella 2008-12-01 13:12:51 UTC
In 7.3 (latest svn), it seems that multi-disc albums under Various Artists are no longer treated as a single album (Group Discs: Treat multi-disc sets as a single album).

Other (non-Various Artists) multi-disc albums are corrected treated as a single album when the Group Discs: Treat multi-disc sets as a single album setting is enabled.
Comment 1 James Richardson 2008-12-02 07:37:04 UTC
Steven: can you verify this on 7.3
Comment 2 Mike Cappella 2008-12-02 10:38:09 UTC
Repeat by:

Various Artists/Title X Disk 1
Various Artists/Title X Disk 2

ArtistY/TitleY Disk 1
ArtistY/TitleY Disk 2

The first set will not appear as one album, while the second set will.

Mike, what type of files do you see this issue with and what tags do they have? Comment #2 makes it look to me that you do not have tags and are relaying on the guess tags feature of SqueezeCenter.
Comment 4 Mike Cappella 2008-12-03 13:25:38 UTC
The files are all FLAC, w/Vorbis comments.

Let me be clear - this setup has worked correctly for a long time, since at least the first 6.x releases, and perhaps earlier. It also works correctly in JR Media Center:

Below are tags from two files, one from a two-disk CD that is not detected, one that is. The Disk # tag is set to either 1 or 2 as appropriate for the remaining tracks, and the parent folder name (album name + Disk #) only differs by the Disk 1 or Disk 2.

I'm pretty sure this is a duplicate of bug 7869 and marking as such.

The workaround in the meantime is to add the COMPILATION=1 tag to the Various Artist files in question.
