Description Kit 2005-03-10 08:47:48 UTC
I normally 'Browse Music Folder' to find my music. My folder is organised:
..\<initial letter>\<artist>\<album>
If I browse to an album, and press play then display shows the first track of
the album playing. When the player reaches the second track, and any subsequent
tracks the display gets stuck on track 1 and does not update (except for the
time counter). If I press the 'Now Playing' button on the remote it displays the
correct information. However when I try to navigate back to the 'Browse Music
Folder' (by pressing left on the remote) I can no longer browse my music
directory - it seems to get stuck in the 'Now Playing' mode. The only way to get
out of this is when the display reads 'Browse Music Folder' press up or down to
get to another option (say 'Internet Radio'), press right to enter that menu,
press left to exit that menu, navigate back to 'Browse Music Folder' and press
right. Hey Presto back to normal... ish!

This behaviour seems to have been brought over from 5.4.1 as i had the same
problem then.

Cheers, Kit

Kit - any reason to not use Browse Artist or Browse Albums?

It's *much* faster, and I don't believe exhibits this problem.

march 11 nightly build should fix the now playing update.

Dan,
have you been able to reproduce this? I can't seem to. i can play several
songs, and when I press left, I go into the home menu and can find browse music
and browse music folder (slow as it is).

Kit,
Is this using the now playing screensaver, or now playing (jump back on wake)?
do you initially wait after starting the album, or do you press now playing to
go into the now playing screen right away?
Comment 3 Kit 2005-03-11 03:42:49 UTC
OK for some reason, the track info not updating seems to have fixed itself...
but i still have the navigation problem. I'll run through step by step for album
'Antics' by Interpol

Browse Music Folder -> I -> Interpol -> Antics <PLAY>

Display shows:

NOW PLAYING FROM:
Antics

for about a second, then:

I/Interpol (1 of 3)
Antics

After 30 secs the 'now playing (jump back on wake)' screensaver comes on and shows:

NOW PLAYING (1 OF 10)
1. Next Exit by Interpol

When track 2 starts it shows:

NOW PLAYING (2 OF 10)
2. Evil by Interpol

All of this is as expected :) At any point here I can press right and navigate
as normal around the other menus and the music continues as normal. If I leave
the SB alone, the screensaver comes on and the correct 'now playing' track info
is displayed.

The problem is:

Press <Now Playing> button on the REMOTE at any time there is music playing
(whether screensaver is active or not)
Press <RIGHT> on the remote to navigate back to 'Browse Music Folder'
Press <LEFT> on the remote to browse; instead it takes you back to 'Now Playing' :(

Cheers, Kit

OOpz sorry... on the last lines should read:

Press <LEFT> on the remote to navigate back to 'Browse Music Folder'
Press <RIGHT> on the remote to browse; instead it takes you back to 'Now Playing' :(

...never thought I had a problem with polar opposites until now ;)

As for why I don't use Browse Artist or Browse Album...

Quote: "Your music library contains 1387 albums with 18061 songs by 4592 artists."

I just find it quicker to find something to listen to using my organised folder tree

Kit: we are having trouble reproducing this here. Can you give exact step by step button instructions
along with exactly what you see on the screen?

Reopen the bug if you have a reproducible case.
