Scenerio:

Customer would like to be able to "mono out" the outputs to mix the left and right channels from the Squeezebox

Customer's email:

"I have a squeezebox which is hooked up in a way that I'd like to be able to "mono out" the outputs to mix the left and right channels. Assuming it is not safe to tie the left/right analog outputs together and looking to support the optical output as well... it would be nice to have a mode which makes the player mix the channels together."

Caleb: your thoughts?
Comment 2 Caleb Crome 2008-11-19 08:20:02 UTC
Hmm, what is this for? I'm not sure it's worth putting in a new feature and option for this. This is really a question for Dean.

Customer Rob here... I have one of my Squeezeboxes digitally connected to a stereo amplifier where one side feeds some outdoor speakers and another feeds a speaker in my bathroom. In this configuration I get the left channel outside and the right channel in the bathroom. The goal would be to mono-out the output of this squeezebox to allow a mix of the stereo song data to the mono speaker setup.

Let's consider this for a future release and get additional feedback/requests from customers.

Dean doesn't work here any more :)

All new Squeezebox products are likely to be based on the SqueezePlay platform.
We do not plan to implement any further enhancements to the ip3k firmware or
which are targeted specifically at ip3k-based products.
