Bugzilla – Bug 10028
screen flashes "connecting to squeezecenter" at 10 sec intervals following re-conne
Last modified: 2010-01-19 18:12:32 UTC
noticed this with firmware 118 and 7.3 trunk: I plugged in laptop my Monday morning after being disconnected over the weekend. Then my SB3, which had been left on, automatically reconnected and went to screen saver. However, every ten seconds, the screen continues to flash "connecting to squeezecenter". The flash is very brief - less than 0.25 seconds. Even after exiting screen saver and navigating SC menus, the message continues to flash.
I can't reproduce this. Were you looking at 'now playing' or some screensaver when this was happening? Connected wired or wirelessly?
The message continued to flash at ten second intervals, no matter what I did in Squeezecenter. This is because the "connecting" message is generated locally by the firmware. The firmware doesn't know or care what Squeezecenter might be putting on the screen. Have we made any changes to the firmware's connecting/reconnecting logic that might have caused this?
I've seen something similar recently, although not with any kind of regular interval to it, nor anywhere near the frequency that you describe. The SB2 that I have sitting on my desk will flash the connecting message every once in a while. I just catch it out of the corner of my eye, as it usually sits in the date/time screensaver and I never notice the time changing in the screensaver, but do notice when the font size or message changes. The SB2 is connected wirelessly, sitting only about four feet from the access point, and always has a 100% signal.
Changing target to next release
We are now planning to make a 7.3.3 release. Please review your bugs (all marked open against 7.3.3) to see if they can be fixed in the next few weeks, or if they should be retargeted for 7.4 or future. Thanks!
Since there's now a planned 7.3.3 release, bugs which won't make the cut-off are being moved to the next target out. If you feel that this bug needs to be addressed more (or less) urgently than the 7.4 release, please cc chris@slimdevices.com and leave a comment in the bug to that effect so we can review it. Thanks.
