Bugzilla – Bug 10014
Screen flashes off when browsing to a Now Playing current playlist
Last modified: 2009-07-31 10:32:06 UTC
A customer reported this issue and I was able to repro it with SC 7.2.1. The customer stated that he has been experiencing this issue since SC 7.1, but not before that. The issue is when you have items in the Current Playlist, then you go to Now Playing and try to scroll through the items in the playlist, the screen will flicker off for a second then come back. Here is the steps the customer took to reproduce the issue. 1. power on the player 2. select an album to play (could be via the New Music menu or otherwise, this is not important) 3. Switch to Now playing mode via the corresponding button on the remote control 4. The current song is displayed. Now press the 'down arrow' on the remote control 5. The next song in the playlist is shown, but only briefly (less than a second), then the screen goes totally blank for more than a second, after which the display is restored 6. The same happens when I press the 'up arrow'.
QA confirmed
Is this SB1 only? Adrian - could this be due to the new x/y counter being hidden?
Can you confirm is this SB1 with a text or graphics display - or both? The new x of y counter is in 7.2 (that's when boom was merged?) so should not impact 7.1, but I will look at it if you can confirm the type of display.
OK - I see this on a text mode SB1 - it needs fixing for 7.3 as it gives a bad user experience at present. Will look at.
Bug should be fixed in change 23949. Michael - note this may need to be reflected in MusicInfoSCR's lines function. There is still a underlying issue with the display code that text and graphics work differently for a display hash of {}. This needs fixing in 7.3.1 - bug 10035 raised.
This bug has been fixed in the 7.3.0 release version of SqueezeCenter! Please download the new version from http://www.slimdevices.com/su_downloads.html if you haven't already. If you are still experiencing this problem, feel free to reopen the bug with your new comments and we'll have another look.
