BRIEF SUMMARY SqueezeCenter stuck at
'starting'
DISCUSSION THREAD RESPONSE (DANIEL E.)
08/25/2008 11:15 AM Leopoldo,
Something is causing
your server to crash it seems. What I'd like to try is running
the server manually and capture error data to see if we
can see what's causing the crash. Try the
following:
Windows Vista
1. Make sure
SqueezeCenter is stopped. Right-click on the Squeezetray icon
in the system tray and select "Stop SqueezeCenter".
2.
On your PC, open a DOS window. To do this go to Start > All
Programs > Accessories > Command Prompt.
3. In
the DOS box, change directories to the SqueezeCenter install
directory, in particular where the server executable is. The
default is C:\Program Files\SqueezeCenter\Server. To change to
this folder, type in: (each line is completed by pressing
ENTER)
cd \
cd Program Files
cd
SqueezeCenter
cd server
4. Next, type
in:
SqueezeCenter.exe --debug server
--logfile=C:\Squeezecenter.log
This starts the scanner
manually with text output sent to a file. If it hits an error,
the log will reflect it.
5. Lastly, can you email that
log file to me? (it may be best to compress the log into a zip
file, if you can.)
Once we receive the file we will
review the log, and let you know what we
find.

lm RESPONSE (TYLER) 08/22/2008 05:25 PM
Leo,
To perform a clean install follow the steps
below.
1. Open Control Panel, then open "Programs and
Features"
2. Scroll down to SlimServer, select it and
click "Uninstall"
3. Restart Windows
4. Go to
C:\Program Files, locate and delete the SqueezeCenter
folder - Click on the Windows icon on the bottom left of
the screen - Click on Computer - Type the path above in
the Address field - Locate and delete the SqueezeCenter
folder
5. Go to C:\ProgramData, locate and delete the
SqueezeCenter folder - Click on the Windows icon on the
bottom left of the screen - Click on Computer - Type the
path above in the Address field - Locate and delete the
SqueezeCenter folder
Note: If you receive any errors
while deleting the two folders, SqueezeCenter may not have
stopped properly. You can open up Task Manager by right
clicking on the Task Bar then click on Task Manager. If you
find Squeeze~1.exe, you will have to end it by clicking on it,
then clicking on "End Process" at the bottom of Task Manager.
6. Download and install SqueezeCenter from:
http://www.slimdevices.com/su_downloads.html
(http://www.slimdevices.com/su_downloads.html)
Once SqueezeCenter finishes scanning your music
library, verify that everything is working by playing a file.
You may need to update your player once you get
connected.
Test to see if you are still running into
the issue. If a clean installation doesn't resolve this issue,
you'll need to configure Windows Live One Care.
Within
your antivirus software, create exceptions for the following
processes: - SQUEEZ~1.exe - SqueezeTray.exe -
mysqld.exe - scanner.exe
Within your firewall
software, open the following ports: - 3483 (TCP)
Squeezecenter Control - 3483 (UDP) Squeezecenter
Discovery - 9000 (TCP) Squeezecenter Web
Let me know
how that goes.
