(ANOOP) 08/14/2008 12:54 PM Gary,
After looking at
your log...I am 100% certain this is a MYSQL issue.
Something is either causing MYSQL to not start or
something is blocking communication with MYSQL.
The
most common issue that causes this is Antivirus.
I
understand that you mentioned that you have uninstalled
Norton, but can I have you try to download a Norton
Uninstaller?
You can get it from Nortons page.
It will go through your system and uninstall all
instances of Norton that is on your computer.
Let me
know how this goes. CUSTOMER (GARY MUSSON) 08/13/2008

02:55 PM Gary.
Something is causing your server
to crash it seems. What I'd like to try is running the server
manually and capture error data to see if we can see
what's causing the crash. Try the
following:
Windows Vista
1. Make sure
SqueezeCenter is stopped. Right-click on the Squeezetray icon
in the system tray and select "Stop SqueezeCenter".
2.
On your PC, open a DOS window. To do this go to Start > All
Programs > Accessories > Command Prompt.
3. In
the DOS box, change directories to the SqueezeCenter install
directory, in particular where the server executable is. The
default is C:\Program Files\SqueezeCenter\Server. To change to
this folder, type in: (each line is completed by pressing
ENTER)
cd \
cd Program Files
cd
SqueezeCenter
cd server
4. Next, type
in:
SqueezeCenter.exe --debug server
--logfile=C:\Squeezecenter.log
This starts the server
manually with text output sent to a file. If it hits an error,
the log will reflect it.
5. Lastly, can you email that
log file to me? (it may be best to compress the log into a zip
file, if you can.)
Once we receive the file we will
review the log, and let you know what we find. RESPONSE

It will go through your system and uninstall all
instances of Norton that is on your computer.

know how this goes. CUSTOMER (GARY MUSSON) 08/13/2008

Gary,
The only errors that are showing up are
MYSQL errors.
with Norton still uninstalled lets try a
complete re install one more time.
Also do you have
any VPN software on your computer?
To perform a
clean install follow the steps below.
1. Open Control
Panel, then open “Programs and Features”
2. Scroll down
to SlimServer, select it and click “Uninstall”
3.
Restart Windows
4. Go to C:\Program Files, locate and
delete the SqueezeCenter folder - Click on the Windows icon
on the bottom left of the screen - Click on Computer -
Type the path above in the Address field - Locate and
delete the SqueezeCenter folder
5. Go to
C:\ProgramData, locate and delete the SqueezeCenter
folder - Click on the Windows icon on the bottom left of
the screen - Click on Computer - Type the path above in
the Address field - Locate and delete the SqueezeCenter
folder
Note: If you receive any errors while deleting
the two folders, SqueezeCenter may not have stopped properly.
You can open up Task Manager by right clicking on the Task Bar
then click on Task Manager. If you find Squeeze~1.exe, you
will have to end it by clicking on it, then clicking on “End
Process” at the bottom of Task Manager.
6. Download
and install SqueezeCenter from:
http://www.slimdevices.com/su_downloads.html
Once SqueezeCenter finishes scanning your music
library, verify that everything is working by playing a file.
You may need to update your player once you get
connected.
Test to see if you are still running into
the issue. Any change?
Let me know how that goes. |

DISCUSSION THREAD RESPONSE (ANOOP) 08/07/2008
11:43 AM Can you try the following:
Windows
XP
1. Click on Start > Control Panels >
Administrative Tools > Event Viewer
2. In the opened
Event Viewer box, click "Applications" on the left side. This
will display all application events on the right
side.
3. Under the Action menu, click "Save Log File
As..." and save the file someplace you'll know where to find
it. (keep the file type as .EVT)
Lastly...
4.
E-mail that log file to me here.
Windows
Vista
1. Open the Event Viewer by clicking the Window
button > Control Panels > Administrative Tools >
Event Viewer
2. Next, look on the left side and if
"Windows Logs" is not expanded double-click on it. You should
see five sub-headings, the first of which is "Application".
3. Click on "Application". This will display all
system messages for applications in the middle window.
4. Next, click on Action at the top (the menu bar) and
select "Save Events As..."
5. Give the log file a name
and click "Save". (be sure to save it in a location you'll be
able to find later.)
Lastly...
6. E-mail that
log file to me here.
That will hopefully shed some
light on what is causing your server to crash. CUSTOMER

Can you try the following:
Windows
XP
1. Click on Start > Control Panels >
Administrative Tools > Event Viewer
2. In the opened
Event Viewer box, click "Applications" on the left side. This
will display all application events on the right
side.
3. Under the Action menu, click "Save Log File
As..." and save the file someplace you'll know where to find
it. (keep the file type as .EVT)
Lastly...
4.
E-mail that log file to me here.
Windows
Vista
1. Open the Event Viewer by clicking the Window
button > Control Panels > Administrative Tools >
Event Viewer
2. Next, look on the left side and if
"Windows Logs" is not expanded double-click on it. You should
see five sub-headings, the first of which is "Application".
3. Click on "Application". This will display all
system messages for applications in the middle window.
4. Next, click on Action at the top (the menu bar) and
select "Save Events As..."
5. Give the log file a name
and click "Save". (be sure to save it in a location you'll be
able to find later.)
Lastly...
6. E-mail that
log file to me here.
That will hopefully shed some
light on what is causing your server to crash. |

DISCUSSION THREAD RESPONSE (CHRIS Q.) 08/04/2008
01:06 PM Thank you for contacting Logitech support. My
name is Chris and I will be happy to help you resolve any
issue you are having with our product today. If it is more
convenient, you may also call our phone support line at
1-877-887-8889 Monday through Friday from 9 am to 7pm
PDT.
Can you try a clean install of the
software?
To perform a clean install follow the
steps below.
1. Open Control Panel, then open “Programs
and Features”
2. Scroll down to SlimServer, select it
and click “Uninstall”
3. Restart Windows
4. Go
to C:\Program Files, locate and delete the SqueezeCenter
folder - Click on the Windows icon on the bottom left of
the screen - Click on Computer - Type the path above in
the Address field - Locate and delete the SqueezeCenter
folder
5. Go to C:\ProgramData, locate and delete the
SqueezeCenter folder - Click on the Windows icon on the
bottom left of the screen - Click on Computer - Type the
path above in the Address field - Locate and delete the
SqueezeCenter folder
Note: If you receive any errors
while deleting the two folders, SqueezeCenter may not have
stopped properly. You can open up Task Manager by right
clicking on the Task Bar then click on Task Manager. If you
find Squeeze~1.exe, you will have to end it by clicking on it,
then clicking on “End Process” at the bottom of Task Manager.
6. Download and install SqueezeCenter from:
http://www.slimdevices.com/su_downloads.html
(http://www.slimdevices.com/su_downloads.html)
Once SqueezeCenter finishes scanning your music
library, verify that everything is working by playing a file.
You may need to update your player once you get
connected.
Test to see if you are still running into
the issue. Any change?
Let me know how that
goes.
You may just respond to this email and it
will notify me directly.
Best
regards,
Chris
